Gettin Tipsy with: Exotico's #TacoParty

One thing I’ve always loved in the summer is sitting on a patio in the hot sun with a tart refreshing margarita and a bomb-ass taco.

Luckily, I was approached by Exotico Tequila who wanted to partner with me for their Taco Party! Everyone knows that a tacos and tequila are a classic pair and I was thrilled to find a deliciou flavor combo using Exotico Tequila.

I started off by taking my Jalapeño, cutting it up and taking my smoking gun and using hickory wood chips. It smelled AMAZING so I decided to use it in both my taco and my margarita.

To balance out the heat from the Jalapeño I knew I’d need something fresh, acidic and slightly sweet.... Pineapple!! The perfect tropical addition. Then to play up the smoky flavor I grilled some pineapple wedges which again I decided to use in both the cocktail and taco.

I wanted to keep the taco light so I opted for shrimp. I marinated my shrimp with the Exotico reposado tequila along with some lime juice, taco seasoning and a splash of coconut liquer for extra tropical notes. Then I sautéed them and added them to the taco with some jalapeño and pineapple coleslaw! The slaw had cabbage, carrots, kale, the grilled pineapple, smoked jalapeño and a cilantro lime dressing. The tacos smelled amazing and I was so ready to dive in- but first, my margarita!!

I took the smoked jalapeño and grilled pineapple and muddled them in the bottom of my shaker. Then I added my Exotico tequila, lime juice and agave nectar, shook and strained into my glass! I garnished it wig a slice of grilled pineapple and a jalapeño slice.

WOW. I think it is my new favorite margarita. There was a subtle smokiness coming through from the jalapeño and pineapple, some heat from the peppers but a slightly sweet yet tart flavor from the fresh pineapple. It accentuated the pure flavor of the Exotico reposado tequila and was the perfect match for my taco. Find the tequila here!

1 1/2 oz Exotico Reposado Tequila

3/4 oz fresh lime juice

4 wedges grilled pineapple

1/2 small-medium sized jalapeño- smoked

1/2 oz agave nectar

Taco Recipe (Makes 2 Tacos)

20 small shrimp

1 1/2 oz Exotico Reposado Tequila

Taco Seasoning

Coconut liqueur

1/2 small-medium sized jalapeño -smoked

5 wedges grilled pineapple

Coleslaw mix

Cilantro lime dressing

Corn tortillas


1) Marinade the shrimp in Exotico Reposado Tequila , coconut liqueur and taco seasoning. After 20 minutes, cook on a skillet on medium heat until opaque (about 5-7 minutes).

2) Cut your jalapeño and smoke it with hickory chips using a smoking gun. Let it sit covered until smoke is gone. Chop up and add to coleslaw mix.

3) Grill pineapple until charred. Chop up and add to coleslaw mix.

4) Add dressing to mix and stir.

5) Add the slaw and the shrimp to your corn tortillas!
