Sweet Summertime

July 15, 2018

When I think of summer I think of alllll the tropical drinks and flavors: pineapple, mango, banana, coconut.... anything that brings the feeling of sitting on the beach with a cocktail in my hand. Rum is the spirit of the islands and pairs the best with all of these flavors.

Oak and Cane is made from local Florida ingredients starting with sugarcane. It then rests with Florida orange peels in medium charred white American Oak barrels before it’s aging. It’s also double distilled for a smooth profile making it the perfect match for my summery tropical cocktails. Check them out here!!

TIKI TIKI TIGER

This one has everything you’ll need to transport you to the beach. It’s sweet, fruity, and frozen so it’s great for a hot day. This is made with Tigers Blood syrup witch is a flavor combo of watermelon and strawberry with a hint of coconut!

4 oz Oak and Cane Rum
4 oz pineapple juice
3 oz Tigers Blood syrup
1 oz coconut water
1.5 cups ice
Pineapple
Strawberry
-
Add ice, rum, juice, syrup and coconut water to a blender and blend well. Pour into glass and garnish with pineapple, strawberry and pineapple leaves.

BANANAS FOSTER

This one has a totally different profile, less of that punchy fruit like pineapple but tropical none the less. Both bananas and coconuts grow in the tropical climates and combine for a smoother and sweeter tiki taste.

I made this one by cutting up bananas and sautéing with butter and brown sugar and finishing off by flambéing with the Oak and Cane rum!

Take your flambéd bananas and put them in a blender to get rid of the pulp. Then you’re ready to start your cocktail!

1.5 oz Oak and Cane Rum
1 oz coconut liqueur
1 oz coconut water
2 oz blended banana
1/2 oz Carmel sauce
1 egg white
-
Add all ingredients to a shaker and shake vigorously with ice. Remove ice and shake again to emulsify the drink. Strain into glass and drizzle with carmel. A sweet tropical cocktail after a long day of relaxation.

Enjoy!
